GALLATIN — The sixth inning proved to be the decisive inning between the home-standing Lady Green Wave and visiting Portland last week, as Gallatin scored six runs in the inning for the 14-4 mercy rule victory.

Trailing 5-4 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning, Gallatin exploded for nine runs over the next two innings to 5-1 on the season.

Portland pitcher Eryn Cheney threw 99 pitches for the Lady Panthers, surrendering 10 earned runs, 10 hits and five walks with two strikeouts.

Gallatin’s Kiersten Mesler earned the win in the circle, throwing 72 pitches, striking out four batters, surrendering eight hits and two earned runs.
