The Gallatin Lady Green Wave improved to 15-5 overall and 12-2 in District 9-3A Friday night with a 48-28 on the road at Portland.
Despite the first two quarters largely remaining a close contest, Gallatin’s defense took control of the game, holding Portland to only nine second half points, including just one point in the fourth quarter.
“We like to control tempo as much as we possibly can and be aggressive on the defensive end,” Gallatin coach Jerry Landers said. “I thought we struggled offensively at times with some really good looks and just couldn’t finish. But we really did a good job in the second half of coming out and setting the tempo. I’ve told the girls that any time you play good defense it can keep you in the game.
