After struggling to score runs in the first three games of the season, the Portland baseball team exploded for 30 runs in two games on Saturday.
MARCH 16: PORTLAND 16, KENWOOD 5
In the first contest on Saturday the Panthers beat Kenwood, 16-5.
Trailing 2-0, Portland scored three runs in the third inning to take the lead.
Brandon Dover singled in Alex Meadors and then Connor Simmons and Houston Ellis both scored later in the inning.
After Kenwood tied the game in the bottom of the third inning the Panthers scored six runs in the fourth inning and seven more in the fifth.
Dover led the Panther attack with two hits.
Cade Box had three RBIs while Ellis and Dover had two apiece.
Kenwood pitchers walked nine Portland batters and hit another 11 with pitches.
Dover pitched three innings for Portland and struck out five batters.
Robbie Bradley finished up in relief.
