Panthers News · Panthers win, lose and tie on pitch in first week


The Portland boys soccer team finished the first week of the season with a 1-1-1 record.

The Panthers won the season opener against Westmoreland on Tuesday, 6-0, scoring all of their goals in the first half.

Jacob Johnson scored three goals, Landon Walters had two goals and Garrett Bates added a score.

In their home opener last Wednesday, the Panthers finished in a 1-1 tie with Merrol Hyde. Bates scored for Portland.

The Panthers dropped a match to Beech on Saturday, 4-1.
